Finding Passion in Your Day

Do you feel like your day-to-day is on repeat and is lacking joy or passion? Do you often question whether what you are doing is bringing you happiness or excitement?

Why is it that we are faced with one of the hardest decisions in our life when we are only 18 years old? We are made to believe that at 18, we will know exactly what we want to do for the rest of our lives. We are encouraged to go to college, get a well-paying job, and make enough money to support our future families. Well times have changed and so has that reality. Our jobs play such a vital part in our functioning and emotional well-being. It impacts the relationships in our lives and the way we show up for ourselves. While having a job is an essential part of life, I want to encourage you to open yourself to the idea that the job or career path you selected when you were 18 is not the only option. So, I ask you this, what is it that makes you the happiest? If you had an extra hour each day to do anything, what would it be? Now, just like your job has been scheduled into your day, I want you to schedule that activity into your day too! You can start small, do this activity for 15 minutes each day and gradually increase it to what feels right for you.

Who knows, you may be able to start your own small business doing what you love! And if not, you will be taking an active role in increasing happiness and self-care while decreasing stress. You will be making yourself a priority and that will positively shift the way you see yourself, others, and the world.

Wishing you a life full of passion, excitement, and happiness,

Karishma Patel, AMFT
